  Get Prepared to Go Back to School

Going back to school after some time in the work force takes careful planning. Follow these steps to get prepared and make the most of your transition:

  • explore your career options
  • decide what you want to study 
  • find available educational and training opportunities 
  • meet with a counselor at the school you’re interested in attending
  • learn about admissions requirements
  • take any necessary tests, such as the SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER, etc.
  • apply for admissions
  • research and apply for financial aid
  • chat with other adults returning to school 
  • identify childcare options and resources

Educational Opportunity Center (EOC)

The EOC offers a wide range of information and assistance for adults interested in education or training programs beyond high school.  EOC services are free, with priority to low-income individuals whose parents have not earned a four-year degree.
