The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education provides resources, such as the Alaska Career Information System (AKCIS), to help you plan a career change and find financial aid to support your education. Anything listed here is available to you. If you need a copy of a publication, or other help to take advantage of these services, contact ACPE's Outreach staff.
  
 Walk-In Success Center

Prospective college students of all ages, teens wondering what to do after high school, and parents confused about how to pay for college can get help here! All Success Center services are free.

You can get personal assistance:
  • completing the FAFSA
  • researching colleges and careers
  • understanding the financial aid process for higher education

The Success Center is located in the Dimond Center Mall in Anchorage, on the 2nd level near the movie theatre.

The Success Center is open M-F 9:00am-5pm No appointment necessary!

 College Goal Sunday

Offered at the end of January or early in February, Alaska College Goal Sunday is a 2-hour event providing free assistance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid professionals from Alaska’s higher education institutions and the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education walk students and their families through the process at designated sites across the state.  Alaska Career Information System (AKCIS)
Adults
This free, interactive online career and college planning system offers detailed information, assessments, and activities to help you create your personal career plan.

Start a portfolio to:

  • build custom resumes
  • keep track of your assessment results
  • save information about programs of study and careers that interest you

You can use AKCIS at your job center, community organization, educational institution, or on your own. Visit www.akcis.org to find a list of locations in your community that offer AKCIS access and support, or learn how to get a free AKCIS account. If you need more help, call the AKCIS helpline at 1-877-269-7974 (269-6929 in Anchorage).
