College Goal Sunday

The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education is very pleased to announce its partnership with the University of Alaska, the Alaska Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (ALASFAA), and the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Education Consortium to create the Coalition of Alaskans Supporting Higher Education (CASHE) to bring College Goal Sunday to Alaska. CASHE has been awarded a $210,000 three-year grant from the Lumina Foundation to deliver the College Goal Sunday (CGS) program in Alaska.

Traditionally offered a week or two after Super Bowl Sunday, CGS is designed to help students and families, particularly low-income and first generation college goers, clear the paperwork hurdle when applying for college financial aid. Financial aid professionals from Alaska’s institutions of higher education and ACPE join other volunteers, fanning out to key hub communities across Alaska to help families fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the universally required financial aid application.
